Hello all - I do hope you're well and I miss you greatly. Though I have not been posting, I have in fact been reading and keeping up with all of your lovely blogs. I wanted to let you know that I am now elsewhere - on Wordpress. I thought it best, for now, and I would love it if you'd stop by and say hello. I'm still keeping my blogger so I may keep up with your posts, but I will be posting on my new blog, Forever, Lauren Nicole. Hope to see you there. Do any of you have a Wordpress? Let me know, I'd love to follow you.

the morning star

You wrap your sweater tightly around you and continue walking through the crisp twilight air. The deep darkness of the night sky and brilliance of the diamond stars begins to quietly and sleepily fade away…revealing an entirely different canvas of softer hues. You slow your walk as you look up into the expanse of the sky, reveling in the last glimmers and sparkles of the morning stars as they disappear behind the light of dawn. So many questions filled your mind, but none of that seems to matter anymore. All of nature surrounding you begins to dreamily awaken and flourish, the first blush of the dawn filling everything with new life and vigor.

The songbirds also begin the new day with songs of praise…sweet melodies now accompanying you on your journey down the path. The realm of the forest floor is covered in a layer of freshly fallen leaves, your footsteps leaving a trail of scattered leaves and twigs. Not wanting to miss the treasure you’re seeking, you quicken your pace.

You come to a clearing through the midst of the canopy and horizon of the trees, and there you see it. Illuminating the woodland and sky with rays of golden, fiery light, the sunrise beams its brilliance across the expanse of the land, igniting the timberland and brush alight. The fierceness and intensity of the blazing colors takes your breath away and suddenly, what was once flaming and blazing softens and subdues into golden, shimmering rays that dance and glimmer amongst the leaves and branches. The blush of the new day…the pinks and blues of the new sky…the brilliance and glimmer of the glowing, shimmering sunrays and sunbursts is absolutely breathtaking. The morning mist rises and the sunlight continues to advance across the morning sky.

persimmon hollow

citrus groves are a plenty in the sunshine state.
our little town's original name was persimmon hollow, until it was changed to what it is currently today.
how wonderful - persimmon hollow. can you imagine living in a town with that name?
it sounds so whimsical...fanciful.
I hope to care for groves of my own one day - I'll have orange trees, grapefruit trees, tangerine trees, & persimmon trees. we'll have basket-fulls of fruit.
the citrus trees behind our house went through a hard freeze, so while many of them don't produce good fruit, some are working hard to come back.
one such tree is a sole tangerine tree - it's fruit so full of wonderful taste.
tangerines make a scrumptious snack - especially straight from the tree itself.
by the way, shame on those who never pick the fruit off their trees. I will gladly take them for you if you wish. just let me know =)

frozen

because one can dream, right?
it's in the 80's here in florida. I'm not complaining...but it sure would be nice to get some colder weather.
mornings here have been somewhat chilly as of late, but then it's like a summer day afterwards.
maybe one day I'll travel & see a white christmas.
till then.

downtown mainstreet apartment

the upstairs apartment above the family business, circa 1885.
it sits empty...quiet...as it has for many years now.
two bedroom. two bathroom. kitchen. laundry room. & a large living room overlooking mainstreet.
crackled paint. un-plastered walls. old, overall.
I grew up in this place though.
when waiting for dad to finish work and take us home after school, my siblings & I would explore these empty rooms. we'd play make-believe. delve into cardboard boxes full of my great-grandmother's trinkets from around the world.
we'd fantasize. imagine. create. explore.
every year, for every homecoming, veteran's day, & christmas parade, we'd dash up the stairs to this apartment, open the blinds, & open the windows - fresh sunlight streaming into the rooms.
we always thought we had the best view in town, & loved waiving to everyone in the streets below.
this olde apartment is full of memories; of laughter.
now I can't help imagine what this place would look like all fixed up.
whom could this place house? maybe a college student who attends the university down the street? a businessman looking to live near work? a small family just starting out?
maybe it will continue to sit empty for a time.
I don't know...but I do know I love this place dearly.

nightscapes

the stillness.
the darkness of the skies.
the quietness of the moon & stars.
the sleepiness.
sitting & thinking outside at night is completely different from sitting & thinking outside during the day.
it's an entirely new world.
even my thoughts stray to different things.
